From damage to repair

"See how damage after an accident was documented and what professional repairs were carried out. For each case, you will find brief explanations of the damage process and the outcome."

BMW 4 Series

The visible damage to the front side wall initially gave a harmless impression.
In practice, however, a correct calculation cannot be made based solely on photos.
Only through expert examination, targeted dismantling, and knowledge of where structural weaknesses lie, did the true extent become apparent:
In addition to the sheet metal damage, a shifted axle geometry and deformations in the underbody area were found – details that are not noticeable to outsiders.
The final calculated damage amounted to €26,660.

BMW 2 Series (repair instead of replacement)

In this BMW 2 Series Convertible, the damage to the rear side panel was professionally repaired instead of replacing the entire part.
Replacing the side panel of a convertible is particularly complex and expensive.
Due to the high mileage, a more economical repair was deliberately chosen to avoid a potential total loss.
The customer was given the name of the appropriate specialist company upon request.

Complex repair on the 911

The damaged aluminum side panel on this Porsche 911 was professionally replaced.
Repairs in multi-material mixed car bodies are carried out using structural adhesives, punch rivets, blind rivets and flow-formed rivets, and require special know-how as well as certified technology.
As a Porsche-trained specialist for mixed-material car bodies, I am familiar with the manufacturer's repair procedures and know what to pay particular attention to.
This allows me to assess whether a workshop performs the work correctly and durably.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 s (Faulty initial appraisal)

In the case of this Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 S, an initial damage assessment from a very reputable and well-known company was available. The damage was only superficially calculated in this assessment. The vehicle owner found this evaluation unsatisfactory, which is why he contacted me before the repairs were carried out.

The initial inspection revealed clear indications of extensive damage to the rear of the vehicle. After the damage was professionally exposed, it became clear that not only add-on parts but also load-bearing and safety-relevant components were affected – including modern vehicle technology.

Only through a practical and comprehensive calculation could the actual extent of the damage be realistically determined. The result: actual damages of approximately €23,000.

This case clearly demonstrates that a company's name is not a guarantee of quality. What matters is the experience and expertise of the on-site assessor who identifies damage before it later becomes a safety or cost risk.
